Domain General Info

As far as domain general info goes, it is pretty much common knowledge in the computer industry that domains and domain names are an important facet of a person’s internet experience, from either direction. Whether you are the webmaster, registering domain names and setting up URLs for other people or even creating and/or placing content for the site OR you are a typical web browser, clicking on links and plugging URLs into your address bar, domain names affect your internet experience in many different ways.

Domains are basically representations of complicated IP numbers. IP numbers are temporary addresses for a particular computer or machine’s position or station on the World Wide Web. Domains are easier, less complicated ways of representing and accessing the different types of resources that are available on the web.

In a sense, URLs are domains. If you look up domain general info on the web you will find that URLs are a sort of domain; BlankityBlank.com is an appropriate domain name for www.BlankityBlank.com/blahblah.htp. As you can see, it just makes things easier on the eyes, easier to remember, and much easier to get the gist of what the site is offering without all of the extra tags and punctuation that sometimes falls at the end of an internet URL just by reading the domain name.

As part of domain general info, it is important to know that two entities cannot share a domain name. Just as IP addresses are specific to certain computers, domain names are all unique and for that reason you may not be able to obtain the domain name that you want, if it has already been taken by another internet user. That is why it is best to have more than one option in mind when looking to get a domain name of your own. Don’t rest your heart on a certain domain name, because chances are that you may not get it. Hold off on giving this information out to anyone before you have it set in stone, as domain names are sometimes subject to change.

When you are getting your domain name, depending on the price you are willing to choose you can buy a top level domain, a second level domain or even a sub domain. Obviously, the higher the level domain you purchase the more expensive it will be in the end.
